- Wear cool comfortable tight weave or Ultraviolet Protective clothing as well as hats with 3 inch brims all around whenever possible
- Wear sunglasses with 99% UV protection to protect the eyes
- For children over 6 months of age apply broad spectrum (UVA + UVB protective) sunscreen even on cloudy days about 15-30 minutes before going outdoors
- 15-30 SPF is typically adequate.
- Reapply every 2 hours or after swimming, sweating, or drying with a towel
- Avoid direct sunlight in infants under 6 months old
