Thrush, also known as oral candidiasis or oropharyngeal candidiasis, is a fungal infection of the mouth and throat caused by an overgrowth of the yeast Candida. Candida is naturally present in the mouth, but various factors can lead to its overgrowth, causing symptoms of thrush.
